An agreed discovery scope is a separate paid phase. The development estimate is refined once journeys and constraints are understood.
Discovery does not require committing to the entire build. Prototype depth, documents and methods for testing assumptions are agreed before work starts.

A goal, existing materials and examples of the current process. A detailed specification is not required. Access to live data is agreed separately.
What happens after discovery?
You receive the agreed materials and a plan. The next phase can be an MVP, a defined project or improvements to an existing product.
